I 'discovered' Art about seven years ago. At first I drew in pencil charcoal and pastels, but then I went to art classes for a couple of years and learned how to use other mediums including oils. I now use oils for the finished work, but often do sketches in pencil and pastel.
I was very impressed with the artists in the Montmartre district of Paris which I visit regularly, particularly those who draw portraits in a few minutes. I generally paint portraits although I have done a number of townscapes.
My favorite artists are the French Impressionists of the mid 19th century, but I also like the work of more recent and contemporary artists including Pierre Farel and Jack Vittriano.
